Wesley Mimico United Church Food Bank in action

Wesley Mimico United Church Food Bank in action!

Unfortunately, in 2020 due the COVID-19 pandemic the Community Lunch and Food Bank at Martin Luther Church is suspended until further notice.

Prior to the pandemic, every Saturday, Wesley Mimico United Church offered food ministry in the Martin Luther Church basement, welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds and economic circumstances. WMUC has a long history of supporting the local community by providing warm meals and supplying urgently needed groceries to our Mimico area residents since 1996.
WMUC Food Bank: 11:00 to 12:00, every Saturday except the last Saturday of the month.
WMUC Community Lunch: 12:00 to 13:00, every Saturday.
Both events took place at the MLC basement from September to June.

“Wesley Mimico’s Food Bank has continued since March 2020 by means of home deliveries. COVID-19 has intensified the need for support. Consequently, we have greatly increased the food delivered and also provide a grocery gift certificate so clients can supplement our non-perishable food with perishable purchases such as vegetables and meat. Delivery and shopping is done in a socially distanced manner.” -Bob Sharkey

“As we navigate and adapt to the many challenges and uncertainties that the Covid-19 pandemic has presented us, unfortunately, it has also affected our situation for leasing our current location. As a result, Great Finds Thrift Store will be closing temporarily until a new location is secured. On September 29, 2020 Great Finds Thrift Store will be closing its operations at this location and will be moving to a new location in the Mimico/Lake Shore community as soon as an appropriate facility can be found. Our priority is to continue to serve in the Mimico/Lake Shore community. One of our goals is to have more retail space in order to provide our clients with an even broader selection. As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, at our new location wherever it is, we will continue to ensure the health and well-being of our customers, volunteers, staff and the community we serve. We would like to thank you for your support and patronage and we look forward to seeing you again soon at a newly furbished store!” – from their website
