Oktober 2021 Predigt (in Deutsch) von Iris Schweiger, Pr\u00e4dikantin. <\/strong>Aufgenommen im Vor-Ort-Gottesdienst in der Kirche um 11:00 Uhr.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r_uJPsYx4IY?rel=0\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" frameborder=\" allowfullscreen=\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>May\u00a0the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dear Congregation!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Lord rescues the prisoners. That is what we hear in Psalm 126. That is also the message of the gospel. Bartimaeus, trapped in his blindness, calls loudly to Jesus:\u00a0&#8222;Help me!&#8220;\u00a0Bartimaeus believes in the change that Jesus can provide. Jesus hears Bartimaeus&#8216; request and makes the beggar see. This message speaks\u00a0to\u00a0our week,\u00a0to\u00a0a world shaken by COVID.\u00a0To\u00a0this world of profound changes in all aspects of our being. We read this in the newspapers and see it on our streets; Poor people\u00a0becoming\u00a0poorer because the goods that God has given so abundantly are poorly distributed. The earth is getting hotter, storms are getting worse and more frequent. Many people lose everything in the raging water of the floods\u00a0or\u00a0the sun\u00a0scorched\u00a0drought. For many this means leaving\u00a0their\u00a0beloved home because the climate is changing so drastically.<\/p>\n<p>The German author Hanns Dieter Huesch writes the following\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0(excerpt):<\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0is true<br \/>\nThe peoples begin to migrate<br \/>\nThe poor knock on the doors of the rich<br \/>\nAnd if we have peace<br \/>\nWhich is\u00a0just barely\u00a0dragging along<br \/>\nSo\u00a0used up, injured, and seriously ill<br \/>\nIf we want to heal this peace<br \/>\nWe have to show all our tenderness<br \/>\nUse all of our imagination<br \/>\nOur anger at injustice<br \/>\nTransforming\u00a0it\u00a0into the courage to share<br \/>\nEveryone\u00a0must, divide\u00a0everything\u00a0in\u00a0two<br \/>\nAnd we must be patient and indulgent<br \/>\nTo practice living together under God&#8217;s heaven and on God&#8217;s earth<\/p>\n<p>That is a very big ask. The poor knock, the rich\u00a0divide everything\u00a0in two;\u00a0all while being patient, tender,\u00a0and\u00a0indulgent.<\/p>\n<p>How does that sit with us? We &#8211; who believe God&#8217;s promise, we &#8211; who live with the promise that we will be like those who dream, who laugh and praise God, who sow with tears and reap with joy. We go and weep and scatter the seeds and then happily return with songs of joy carrying our bundles.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this very big ask, I notice\u00a0there is\u00a0precisely\u00a0movement\u00a0in this direction\u00a0in our congregation. We are very careful right here in our building. We give our child care center the space and freedom that is needed to provide good care for the children and families\u00a0in our vicinity, despite all the ever new and stricter, i.e. restrictive, rules imposed by the government.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39552\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39552\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-39552\" src=\"https:\/\/martinluther.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2020-Confirmation-70-Iris-Schweiger-bicycle-3resizedportrait-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Iris Schweiger with bicycle at Confirmation 2020\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/martinluther.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2020-Confirmation-70-Iris-Schweiger-bicycle-3resizedportrait-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/martinluther.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2020-Confirmation-70-Iris-Schweiger-bicycle-3resizedportrait-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/martinluther.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2020-Confirmation-70-Iris-Schweiger-bicycle-3resizedportrait-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/martinluther.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/2020-Confirmation-70-Iris-Schweiger-bicycle-3resizedportrait.jpg 1330w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39552\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Iris Schweiger with bicycle at Confirmation 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We, as a congregation,\u00a0bemoan\u00a0the loss of our freedom to use all the space at any time. With our tears we sow joyful seeds. Our willingness to provide space is our gift to the child care center to let the children play freely and happily.<\/p>\n<p>We bring our laughter and our joy outside\u00a0to the\u00a0front of our building. The hungry\u00a0partake of the\u00a0soup\u00a0allowing it to warm\u00a0their bodies. Many people stand in front of the soup and blessing table\u00a0coatless\u00a0and with holes in their shoes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>We provide the joy of a warm soup and the gift of listening. We say: God bless you! With every spoken blessing we feel how the blessing sprinkles over us like warm rain.<\/p>\n<p>We pick up the phone and talk to our seniors or take our cars to visit\u00a0them. Sadness, loneliness is\u00a0dispelled\u00a0by this visit. We laugh, we sow joy and leave traces of a\u00a0conversation, a card, a present, an entry in a calendar.<\/p>\n<p>And further\u00a0beyond\u00a0our church building we sow the seeds of immigration. Our refugee team waits at the airport to give a warm welcome to people without\u00a0possessions. Tears are\u00a0dried, a new life begins in a new home.<\/p>\n<p>Many of us are the rich who hear the poor knock.\u00a0&#8222;Knock, Knock, Knock.&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes we\u00a0yearn\u00a0for\u00a0what used to be. It was good. It was important. It was familiar and warm. Despite\u00a0this\u00a0sadness, we believe in God&#8217;s promise. We count ourselves among those dreaming who shout like Bartemaeus:\u00a0&#8222;Have mercy, Lord. I am blind and I want to see. Help me out of captivity.&#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Many years ago, I was struck by Psalm 126 in the\u00a0form\u00a0of a song by Peter Strauch. His interpretation of the psalm is as\u00a0follows\u00a0with the title:\u00a0You shouldn&#8217;t get tired<\/p>\n<p><em>1.\u00a0You should not get tired even if the light on earth seems to be gradually\u00a0waning. For God&#8217;s future will triumph over hatred and war, and when his great day appears:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Refrain:\u00a0We will be like the dreamers, who cannot grasp what they see. We will laugh and joyfully stand before Jesus.<\/p>\n<p><em>2. Do you want to lose heart? Do you want to give up because there is nothing left to hope for? You shouldn&#8217;t end up worthless, God wants to turn your life around because he loves you infinitely.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>3. So let the sadness go, let yourself be guided to joy. Soon you will see that the festival begins. You too are invited, then God will heal all\u00a0pain. A new song is\u00a0intoned.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>And the peace of God, which\u00a0exceeds\u00a0all our understanding,\u00a0keeps\u00a0our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Amen.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>24.
