SUMMARY:MAUNDY THURSDAY -online agape meal through Zoom at 7:00 pm + Materi
al to Worship at Home in German
DESCRIPTION:\n(The  German material is available on the German version of
this page.)\n\nOn Maundy Thursday we are celebrating a English worship ser
vice with an agape meal live through Zoom at 7:00 pm. An agape meal is sim
ilar to Holy Communion\, but as it isn't considered a sacrament\, it is so
mething we can celebrate ecumenically.\n\nYou can find the service outline
below. As you can see there are a lot of prayers and instead of a sermon
we're going to have a conversation about a short Bible text. If you'd like
to read a Bible text or prayer let Vicar Silke know by emailing vicarfahl
@martinluther.ca.\n\nIn preparation for the service you need some bread\,
a cup of wine/grape juice for each person celebrating and\, if you’d lik
e\, some dinner so we can eat together and chat after the service.\n\nYou
can join the Zoom Meeting online with a computer\, laptop or smartphone wi
th audio and visual capabilities.\nhttps://us04web.zoom.us/j/841280289  \

DF]   Online Agape Meal on Maundy Thursday – April 9\, 2020\nFrom St.
Pauls\, New York\; translated &amp\; adjusted for Martin Luther Church\nIn
formal start / Arrival phase\nGreeting and  Check in\n\nEnglish Worship
Service\n\nLiturgical opening\nIn the name of the Father and the Son and t
he Holy Spirit.\nAmen.\n\nGreeting\n\nOpening song: O Lord hear my prayer
 (ELW751)\n\n\nTo listen: https://youtu.be/f51n-yb11dY\n\nPrayer\nPsalm 116
\nI love the Lord\, because he has heard\nmy voice and my supplications.\n
Because he inclined his ear to me\,\ntherefore I will call on him as long
as I live.\nThe snares of death encompassed me\;\nthe pangs of Sheol laid
hold on me\;\nI suffered distress and anguish.\nThen I called on the name
 of the Lord:\n“O Lord\, I pray\, save my life!”\nGracious is the Lord\
, and righteous\;\nour God is merciful.\nThe Lord protects the simple\;\nw
 hen I was brought low\, he saved me.\nReturn\, O my soul\, to your rest\,\
nfor the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.\nFor you have delivered my s
oul from death\,\nmy eyes from tears\,\nmy feet from stumbling.\nI walk be
fore the Lord\nin the land of the living.\nI kept my faith\, even when I s
aid\,\n“I am greatly afflicted”\;\nI said in my consternation\,\n“Ev
eryone is a liar.”\nWhat shall I return to the Lord\nfor all his bounty
to me?\nI will lift up the cup of salvation\nand call on the name of the L
ord\,\nI will pay my vows to the Lord\nin the presence of all his people.\
nPrecious in the sight of the Lord\nis the death of his faithful ones.\nO
Lord\, I am your servant\;\nI am your servant\, the child of your serving
girl.\nYou have loosed my bonds.\nI will offer to you a thanksgiving sacri
fice\nand call on the name of the Lord.\nI will pay my vows to the Lord\ni
n the presence of all his people\,\nin the courts of the house of the Lord
 \,\nin your midst\, O Jerusalem.\nHalleluja!\n\nReading (1 Corinthians 11:
23-26) and Reflection (Lectio Divina)\nLectio Divina is a medieval spiritu
al practice. It is a four-step reading practice with the traditional steps
  being: Lectio\, Meditatio\, Oratio\, Contemplatio (reading\, meditating\,
praying and contemplating).\nThe four steps we are going to do are: Narra
tive\, Allegory\, Reflection and Invitation. The text is read four times a
nd after each time there are different questions. There are no right or wr
ong answers.\n\n\n23For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to
you\, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of
bread\, 24and when he had given thanks\, he broke it and said\, “This i
s my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 25In the same
way he took the cup also\, after supper\, saying\, “This cup is the new
covenant in my blood. Do this\, as often as you drink it\, in remembrance
of me.” 26For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup\, you pro
claim the Lord’s death until he comes.\n\n\nStep 1: Narrative\nWhat stuc
k out to you when you heard the reading?\n\nStep 2: Allegory\nWhat metapho
rs are hidden in the text?\nWhat symbols can we find in the words that are
used?\n\n\n\nStep 3: Reflection\nHow does this text speak to you in your
life today?\n\nStep 4: Invitation\nWhat actions are you going to take?\nWh
at does the text call you to do?\n\n\n\nSong: Eat This Bread (ELW348)\nTo
 listen: https://youtu.be/xDqk-DMS4Mk\n\nThanksgiving over the bread\n\nTha
nksgiving over the wine\n\nBlessings on the assembled\n\nPrayer of the peo
ple\nEach prayer ends with: “Hear us\, O God. Your mercy is great.”\n\
nLord's Prayer\nGathered into one by the Holy Spirit\, let us pray as Jesu
 s taught us.\nOur Father\, who art in heaven\,\nhallowed be thy name\,\nth
y kingdom come\,\nthy will be done\,\non earth as it is in heaven.\nGive u
s this day our daily bread\;\nand forgive us our trespasses\,\nas we forgi
ve those who trespass against us\;\nand lead us not into temptation\,\nbut
deliver us from evil.\nFor thine is the kingdom\,\nand the power\,\nand t
 he glory\,\nforever and ever.\nAmen.\n\nBless the bread together\n\n\nBles
s the wine / grape juice together\n\n\nSong: Stay with me / Bleibet hier u
nd wachet mit mir (ELW348)\nTo listen: https://youtu.be/v8Dc0wh8dcY\n\n\n
Blessing \n\nMeal\nThereby: Follow-up discussion (with flexible length of
  participation)\n
