SUMMARY:SATURDAY 10:30 am World Day of Prayer Service at Mimico Baptist Chu
rch\, 80 Hillside Ave\, Toronto. Local churches gathering together to pray
for Nigeria and for God’s work around the world.
DESCRIPTION:World Day of Prayer Service will be Saturday\, March 7\, 2026 a
 t 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Mimico Baptist Church\, 80 Hillside Ave\, Toront
o  (https://mimicobaptist.ca/). Local churches gathering together to pray
for Nigeria and for God’s work around the world.\n\nThe focus country i
s Nigeria. This year’s theme is: “I will give you rest: come.” Artwo
rk: “Rest for the Weary” by Gift Amarachi Ottah\n\nWe will be showing
a video supplied by Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada (https://wdpc
anada.ca/) for this year's World Day of Prayer.\n\nWe have a Nigerian woma
n who will lead the singing in her native dress. We also have a Djembe dru
mmer (our pastor!). There will be a video and hand out sheet about the nee
ds of the country. We are ending the service with "The Blessing" being sun
g on video in each of the languages of Nigeria. We think it will be an inf
ormative and interesting day. Apparently it is a country where Christians
are persecuted\, so our prayers and offerings are vital.\n\nWe need one or
two more readers\, and would love help with the refreshments - sugar cook
 ies\, and mini fruit muffins (banana\, blueberry).\n\nPlanning meetings\n\
nWe are doing most of our planning by email (people are so busy)\, but are
doing a run-through and learning the Nigerian songs\, etc. on Tuesday aft
ernoon\, March 3\, at 2:00 pm. It would be wonderful if people from your c
hurch would like to get involved.\n\nWe hope each church in our area can s
end a representative. Please email or call Jan Thomas\, Mimico Baptist Chu
rch (416-252-2582 jan@mimicobaptist.ca ) with any questions. Looking forwa
rd to this time of learning\, praying and giving with you all.\n\n[caption

uba\, Hausa and Igbo. Gift explained that the overall message for the 2026
service is "Come". She said the word "Wazobia" symbolizes Nigeria's unity
\, especially for the three major ethnic groups\, and a call for inclusion
. Wa" means "Come: for Yoruba\; "Zo" means "Come" for Hausa\; and "Bia" me
