World Day of Prayer 2024 from Palestine – An Ecumenical Service held at Martin Luther Church

UPDATE – veranstaltet von der Martin Luther Church Toronto mit unserer örtlichen Gemeinde am Samstag, den 2. März 2024. Der diesjährige Gottesdienst basierte auf einem Programm, das vom Weltgebetstagkomitee Palästinas verfasst und für den Einsatz in Kanada vorbereitet und angepasst wurde vom Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada mit dem Thema „Ich bitte euch … ertragt einander in Liebe“, basierend auf Epheser 4:1-7.
Vielen Dank an Iris Schweiger für die Organisation. Wir begrüßten Mitglieder aus 6 Kirchen, die uns durch die Lesungen, Gebete und Reflexionen begleiteten: Christ Church St. James Anglican Church (https://www.christchurchstjames.ca/), Mimico Baptist Church (https://mimicobaptist.ca/) , Mimico Presbyterian Church (https://mimicopresbyterian.com/), St. Leo’s Catholic Church (https://stleoset.archtoronto.org/), Wesley Mimico United Church (https://www.wmuc.ca/), und Gastgeber Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church (https://martinluther.ca).
Für die musikalische Umrahmung sorgte eine neunköpfige Band.
Anneli und Greg als technische Unterstützung präsentierten uns eine Präsentation und eine Diashow mit Hintergrundinformationen über Palästina unter Verwendung von Material des Women’s Inter Church Council of Canada.
Wir sind dankbar für die Teilnahme der Freiwilligen und Besucher. Vielen Dank an alle, die beim Aufbau geholfen, das Essen mitgebracht, den Vorsitz geführt, präsentiert und sich unter die Leute gemischt haben.
Der Weltgebetstag ist eine internationale ökumenische christliche Laieninitiative, eine Gebetsbewegung, die uns einlädt, unsere Glaubenserfahrung mit der Erfahrung von Christinnen und Christen aus anderen Ländern und Kulturen zu bereichern und Frauen, die von Ungerechtigkeit betroffen sind, Hoffnung zu bringen.

January 21, 2024 – World Day of Prayer 2024 from Palestine – An Ecumenical Service will be held at Martin Luther Church on Saturday March 2, 2024 at 1:00 pm (12 pm Set up & Potluck) 2379 Lake Shore Blvd West, Etobicoke.
The Ecumenical Service was written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Palestine, prepared and adapted for use in Canada by the Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada.

Dear World Day of Prayer enthusiasts and dear all who would like to try this on for size. You are invited to become a part of the team.
A special invitation for our neighbouring churches and community outreach teams e.g. Bowls and Blessings Outdoor Food Ministry, Dinner Church, Drum Circle, to attend and join the team.

Imagine over 1.5 million Christians speaking 90 different languages in 150 countries coming together in spirit; uniting to pray for relevant issues affecting women and children. This was the 2023 reality for this tremendous movement that has been active for nearly 100 years.
The World Day of Prayer is traditionally celebrated on the first Friday of March, although local communities can choose another date. Due to construction at MLC we are choosing to plan this event on the weekend.
Find the time, find the team. I promise, you will go home enriched.
