Dinner Church by the Lake this coming Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 pm

As we continue our tour of the Lakeshore, we learn what’s important in the community from organizations serving the area. This time at Dinner Church, Carla Neto will speak at our church about being the Community Program Manager at Women’s Habitat which provides shelter and outreach (https://womenshabitat.ca/ ).

Please bring a dish to share at the potluck and come early or stay after to help.

Bio: Carla Neto has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University and is currently a candidate for a Masters of International Business Administration with the Westford School of Management, Dubai (UAE). Prior to coming to Women’s Habitat, Carla managed the YWCA Women’s Shelter and Transitional Housing and Support Program for over 10 years where she successfully implemented the Trauma-Informed Service Model and developed a Housing Readiness Program. Carla is a transformational leader and an avid advocate for social justice. Carla chairs the Manager’s group and co-chairs the Transitional Housing and Support Program (THSP) Network where she is the Lead for the Housing Task Group. Carla currently represents Women’s Habitat in two important community networks; the Mimico Lakeshore Community Network (MLCN) and the Lakeshore Affordable Housing Advocacy and Action Group (LAHAAG). These networks focus on social reform issues such as Poverty Reduction, Housing, Transit and Youth Engagement.

Dinner Church is a monthly get-together for anyone who is looking for a place to truly connect with other people and explore faith and spirituality. It’s part potluck, part sermon, and part conversation. It’s basically doing what Jesus did: getting people together, eating food, and talking about good and life-giving things. Who doesn’t need that in their lives?! Whoever you are, wherever you’re at, this is for you. You’ll be welcome, wanted, and accepted here.
