In November 2014, Martin Luther Church decided to help sponsor refugee resettlement and created the Refugee Support Team initially for Syrian refugees.
The Refugee Support Team helps our refugee families with integration into Canadian society through settlement assistance (finding a place to live, help with moving, providing donated furnishings, bicycles, etc.), connecting them with the required community and government resources, employment searches, tutoring, educational liaison, and ongoing supportive encouragement and communication. Our team’s efforts have been actively supported by church members, including running significant fundraising events. Click to read more about the activities of the Refugee Support Team
We invite interested members of the larger community to join our Refugee Support Team in this worthwhile and fulfilling cause.
If you would like to make a tax deductible financial donation to our refugee support click on the donation link on the homepage.
As Christians, we are called to put our faith and hope into action and to meet the needs of the oppressed and vulnerable by reflecting our own experience of God’s love for us.
“You shall treat the stranger who resides with you as one born among you. You shall love that one as yourself.” – Lev. 19: 34
