To escape human rights abuses, Salina and Goitom Kifle and their four children in 2017 fled Eritrea on foot to an Ethiopian refugee camp, where they were given UN refugee status. Now they are awaiting your help to raise $50,000 so they can come to Canada.

Last spring the Martin Luther Church (MLC) Refugee Support Team was approached by Christ Church St. James (Parklawn) to partner with them to help one of their parishioners, Tewelde Fessahatsion, sponsor his sister, Salina Kifle, and her family to immigrate to Canada.

Martin Luther Church has a long history of sponsoring and supporting refugee families to come to Canada. The Martin Luther Church community has been very generous in supporting our refugee work; in the past few years we have supported two Syrian families in settling in Canada, and we have enjoyed getting to know them and learning about the Syrian history and culture.

The MLC Refugee Support Team is a small group of church and community members who help refugee families reunite with their family members. We offer assistance with fundraising, the application process, and then the ongoing resettlement process. Now we are asking for your generosity and support again.
