- Do not go down to the church basement unless expressly asked and you have permission.
- We will serve inside or outside depending on the weather.
- Try to be as environmentally friendly as possible.
- If you receive any donations of food directly, please put them in the storage room in the basement with a note.
- If people ask when they can donate FOOD ONLY on Tuesdays, Fridays 12-1pm, inside the doors.
- Before leaving ensure that everything used is clean.
- Don’t leave the table, especially the donation jar, unattended.
- Ensure when you are finished, the donation jar is taken to the office.
- If there is any left-over soup, fill containers and put them in the 24/7 community food pantry. For larger left-overs carry the pot in the fridge in the basement.
Background
Since December 1, 2020 Martin Luther Church has been serving food in front of the church doors to our neighbours. The days and hours vary depending on the availability of our food providers and servers. Currently we are out front on Tuesdays and Fridays at noon 12:00 to 1:00 pm.
And a community food pantry to place left-overs of the day.
We would like to thank our soup makers and servers in the past who have supported us: Eastern Synod Mission Grant, Mimico Presbyterian Church, Mimico Baptist Church, Stonegate Ministry, Wesley Mimico United Church, Paris Bakery, The Portuguese Chicken House and finally, the many neighbours and friends who have donated generously.
Our outreach program made the front page of a local newspaper in January 2022. Here is the link to article in The South Etobicoke News for January 2022: https://torontonewswire.com/january-2022/
