2022 Palmsunday -Harfentoene Mens Choir at MLC
The Harfentöne Men’s Choir was initially founded in 1929 by Father Paul Stroh of the German-speaking congregation at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church on McCaul Street in downtown Toronto as a German male voice choir under the name “St. Patrickchor”. On hiatus during the difficult war-time years, the choir was revived in 1947 –and renamed “Harfentöne” by musically-gifted Father Daniel Ehmann. However, it wasn’t until Mother’s Day 1950 that the reinvigorated choir had its first public concert. In 1959, they joined the Deutsch-Kanadischer Sängerbund (German-Canadian Choir Association) and participated in many of their events. Since Sept. 2017, our very own organist, Linda Marcinkus, has been their choir conductor. In October 2019, the Harfentöne choir celebrated its 90th Anniversary. The choir hopes to be able to continue to delight faithful audiences with its rich repertoire of songs for many years to come.

PALM SUNDAY April 10, 2022 11:00 am BILINGUAL Worship Service with the Harfentöne Men’s Choir and a Sock Drive in which the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada inspired us to help our neighbours. Read about their Palm Sunday Challenge on social media #espalmsunday2022. Instead of palm branches we encourage you to wave socks! We are collecting good-as-new socks for men, women and children to share at our “Bowls and Blessings” outreach program. Please bring them to church in the weeks leading up to Palm Sunday.
