Vicar Adam’s Stories: The MLC Chapter

Last updated on November 4th, 2022

UPDATE: We celebrated a Godspeed worship service and farewell reception for Vicar Adam McComb and Tanya Zielke on Sunday July 31, 2022. Our former vicars, Pastor Jordan Smith and Pastor Caroline Raddatz, joined for the special day.

Here is a photo gallery of Godspeed worship service and the reception in the backyard afterwards.

Vicar Adam McCombWith a lot of humor and humility, Adam McComb drew us into his Bible stories and everyday stories with God right from the start. Each of his stories leaves an impression, encourages reflection and retelling. I am deeply grateful that Vicar Adam, despite his intensive study time, kept extending his contract with the Martin Luther Church! At first it was only supposed to be one year together with four other vicars (Ecumenical Internship Team 2019-2020) but then everything got tumultuous: First Pastor Christian Ceconi moved on (Berliner Stadtmission), then came COVID and with it virtual services; proclamation of the kingdom of God in front of the doors of our church; moving into the parsonage; arrival, teamwork and farewell to Pastor Gerhard Hille; beautification, preparation and handover of the patronage; installation and orientation of Pastor Annika Klappert; support for two groups of confirmands. Everywhere, Vicar Adam was there – right in the middle of it all. On July 31, 2022 his contract as an employee of the Martin Luther Church Toronto comes to an end with a farewell Godspeed service at 11:00 am, followed by a reception in the backyard. With God’s infinite blessings, we send Vicar Adam into the next phase of his life.

Auf Wiedersehen Vicar Adam McComb.

Wishing you all the best,
Iris Schweiger, President Church Council

This just in: Adam has been endorsed as a candidate for rostered ministry by the Eastern Synod. His journey towards ordained ministry in our Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada continues with a Clinical Pastoral Education program. We pray that he is able to begin soon.
