Christmas Eve English Service at 6:30 pm

Last updated on January 4th, 2025

On Tuesday 24th December 2024, we celebrated Christmas Eve with a wonderful German Service at 5:00 pm that saw record attendance for the post COVID lockdown era! It was followed by its English language equivalent at 6:30 pm.

Our resident vicar from Germany, Alice Rothgordt, presided over both services with her inspiring sermons. The perfect musical ambiance was provided by lovely carols sung by the congregation and a performance by our choir along with divine flute solos by Nicole Koo Tze Mew.

As the year draws to a close and the holiday season approaches, please take a moment to reflect on all that we have achieved together. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church is so much more than a house of worship. Thanks to your generous contributions of time and money, it’s also a vibrant local community hub with caring outreach programs.

We all look forward to our Sunday services, the beautiful music, inspiring sermons, and the meaningful conversations before and after each service, or at Bible Study, or in Confirmation classes. During the week, our building is a lively home for many community groups including the Martin Luther Child Care which runs programs for toddlers, pre-school and school-aged children (Monday to Friday),  and the Wesley Mimico United Church food bank program for whom we provide space to prep their deliveries.

Our outreach programs Dinner Church (once a month mid-week), Bowls and Blessings outdoor food ministry (Tuesdays and Fridays at noon), 24/7 Community Food Pantry and Little Library, and Raised Bed Gardens in front of 5 Superior Ave (now put to bed for Winter) make a significant difference to those in need. None of these accomplishments would be possible without the dedication and hard work of our wonderful staff, volunteers, and your ongoing financial donations.

A Note from our Treasurer
We ask you to continue to give generously. As a registered charity, we will be providing you with a contribution receipt early next year.

We are deeply grateful to those who have already stepped up to support our work on the remediation from flood damage on July 16, 2024.

We invite anyone who is able to make an additional monthly donation via PAR direct debit or a one-time check or Paypal donation — each of which is tax deductible — to us. Authorization for an additional PAR donation can be sent to Church Treasurer Kai Herrmann via email: [email protected] Other ways to donate are on our DONATE webpage.

Each contribution –no matter the amount– makes a difference and enables us to continue our mission.  Your generosity has brought us this far and continues to be the foundation of everything we accomplish together. Your commitment, generosity, and faith in our work make all the difference.

May the Christmas season bring you and your loved ones peace, joy and blessings.
