Planned Giving Session on Sunday September 13th after the 11:00 am Worship Service

Join us Sunday September 13, 2026 following the 11:00 am service for a presentation by Kathryn Smith, Giving Advisor at Charitus*, who will lead an informative talk and question period about how planned giving can help support Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. She will share stories about bequests and other types of planned gifts.

Refreshments will be provided. Info handouts will be available.

We appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity of all members who have left bequests to our congregation. These gifts are an invaluable cornerstone to build a solid financial foundation enabling our congregation to continue in its mission for future generations.

Lutheran Planned Giving is an outreach and support program operated directly by Charitus* (formerly known as Evangelical Lutheran Foundation of Eastern Canada (ELFEC)).

Focus
The purpose of this workshop is to facilitate awareness for the following:

• The congregation would happily receive planned gifts from members and supporters;
• A planned gift can provide valuable resources for a variety of ministries;
• Many Lutherans already arrange to donate planned gifts well in advance;
• There are several ways to make a planned gift; a bequeathment in a will is the easiest one for most people.
Ultimately we hope every member household, willing and able to do so, could make a planned gift to the church.

Format
The program is one hour long. That includes a presentation and plenty of time for Q&A. The presentation uses testimonials of three actual donors to illustrate the opportunities and process of making such gifts. Participants are invited to pick up copies of handouts from a table near the entrance.
