Planned Giving Session on Sunday September 13th after the 11:00 am Worship Service

Join us Sunday September 13, 2026 following the 11:00 am service to hear how a planned gift can support Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church.  Kathryn Smith, Giving Advisor with Charitus, will lead an informative talk and question period. She will share stories about bequests and other types of planned gifts. Refreshments will be provided. Handouts will be available.

We appreciate the thoughtfulness and generosity of members who have left bequests to our congregation.  These gifts help us build a solid foundation for future generations and enable our congregation to continue in our mission.  

Lutheran Planned Giving is an outreach and support program operated directly by Charitus* (formerly known as Evangelical Lutheran Foundation of Eastern Canada (ELFEC)), a charitable foundation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada.

Focus
The purpose of this workshop is to create awareness. We want people to know that:
• The congregation would happily receive planned gifts from members and supporters;
• A planned gift can provide resources for a variety of ministries;
• Many Lutherans have already arranged to donate planned gifts;
• There are several ways to make a planned gift; a gift in a will is the easiest one for most people.
Ultimately we hope every member household, willing and able to do so, would make a planned gift to the church.

Format
The program is one hour long. That includes a presentation and plenty of time for Q&A. The presentation uses the stories of three actual donors to illustrate the opportunities and process of making a gift. Following the program participants are encouraged to pick up copies of handouts from a table near the entrance.
