Guest speaker bio: Annie Katsura Rollins (she/they) is a community arts worker, researcher, and puppetry artist and the new Executive Director at Lakeshore Arts. Finding a sense of much needed belonging in community theatre as a young person, she pursued understanding this feeling of connectedness through the arts with degrees in performance (BFA), theatre performance, direction, and puppetry (MFA), a Fulbright Fellowship, and finally a study in traditional lineages of folk puppetry in China (PhD). She concurrently tested this understanding through over 20 years of professional work in art education, facilitation, and community building. At Lakeshore Arts (https://lakeshorearts.ca/), your local community arts centre, we have just undergone a year of rebuilding our strategy and approach to engaging with the community and strong community partners – local churches are a big part of what keeps communities connected. Annie is excited to talk to the congregation at Martin Luther Church Toronto.
