Seniors Group Spring Gathering Wed Apr 8, 2026
With many seniors already attending the Holy Week services –culminating in Easter Sunday itself– it was unclear whether anybody would again make their way to our Martin Luther Church on the Lakeshore a mere three days after Easter. So, it was a pleasant surprise to be able to welcome a fair number of our dedicated and willing Seniors–neither hindered by illness nor other commitments from again making the journey–to MLC, where we all gathered in the church nave to celebrate the arrival of spring. A colourful table with vernal decor and the accompaniment of lovely piano music by Linda Marcinkus set the mood for spring.
We listened to spring poems and a story where an elderly lady, sensing that spring had arrived, happily shouted out: “I’ve done it again: I survived the winter and the cold. Hurray!”
We shared what we typically associate with spring, and what rituals we have when the season begins. Everybody joined in singing well known folk songs accompanied by Linda before a delicious lunch of quiches and salads was served. A prayer and blessing provided by Pastor Annika Klappert sent us on our way at 1pm.
Many thanks to all that helped to make this event possible.
The next gathering will be at St. George’s Lutheran Church for an Ascension Day service at 11:00 am on Thursday May 14, 2026.
