Senior’s Advent Celebration on Wednesday, Dec 10, 2025 at 11:00 am

Once again, we held an Advent celebration for our senior members at Martin Luther Church on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025 at 11:00 am. The weather was snowy and icy that morning, and the volunteers who had prepared everything feared that, understandably, many older people would stay home. But then joy overcame worry as one after another arrived. The church was warm and Christmas piano music filled the space. A large table and comfortable chairs were set up in the sanctuary, as well as a buffet with sandwiches, salads and sweets. Pastor Annika Klappert offered a devotion that conveyed hope. There was conversation and singing of familiar Christmas carols accompanied on piano by Linda Marcinkus. A story about seniors in a nursing home discussing what they would eat for Christmas made us laugh, and everybody took the opportunity to chat during the meal. Philippe Koo Tze Mew Sr sang two songs that captivated everyone, then the group continued singing together. It is much more satisfying to sing Advent carols with friends and acquaintances in church than to be bombarded with Christmas music while shopping!

Many thanks to everyone who attended, and to Linda Marcinkus, our organist, for playing for us. We remember those who would have liked to be there but couldn’t due to health reasons.

Original Post November 24, 2025 : Seniors of the congregation and their guests are invited to celebrate the Advent season together, In keeping with tradition, there will be a devotion (Pastor Annika Klappert), singing (accompanied by Linda Marcinkus, our organist) and fellowship. In English and German. A light lunch will be served.
