Volunteers needed urgently: MLC Council is looking for up to five new members for the 2026-2027 term
Church Council is Martin Luther Church’s primary governing body. The team provides leadership, governance, and strategic planning for implementing the church’s mission, handles administrative and budgetary tasks, and resolves bureaucratic and maintenance issues – all while ensuring the church’s activities align with its spiritual and outreach goals.
This is an enriching personal and professional development opportunity! We hope for representation from both German and English congregation members who are 18+. Since MLC is now fully incorporated, Council members have full legal liability protection in the execution of their duties on Church Council.
Role description: Attend monthly meetings (either in person or over Zoom) and carry out any tasks given at said meetings. An annual Council retreat is also held to plan for the upcoming year. This year, we especially need help on the finance team where we are looking for a treasurer-in-training for next year and volunteers to help with planning, reporting, and budgeting.
Helpful skills and experience includes, but is not limited to, experience with other church committees or groups, strategic planning in secular and/or church contexts, administrative experience, and budgeting / accounting skills. Relevant computer software literacy (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Microsoft OneDrive) is helpful but not essential.
This year, we especially need help on the finance team where we are looking for a treasurer-in-training for next year and volunteers to help with planning, reporting, and budgeting. We currently use PowerChurch software in the office with which we can connect from home, and are in the process of transitioning to Quickbooks.
