Grief Workshop – Saturday November 18, 2023, 9:45 am to 3:15 pm

Change and loss are part of our lives, whether it be the moving on of a significant spiritual leader; the loss of our personal soulmate or parent; the loss of our own mobility or of someone we are now caring for: and then there are the sorrows of the world, including the climate emergency. In confronting life’s major challenges, we can feel inadequate to the task.

Good Grief! Befriending Loss in Ourselves, Others and our World 

Saturday November 18, 2023, 9:45 am to 3:15 pm

In this workshop:
• We will normalize the experience of loss and grief by exploring psychological and spiritual dimensions associated with significant life changes.
• We will explore the challenge and opportunity of loss through presentations, personal and group reflection.

Schedule:
9:45-11:00 am      Welcome, getting to know the group, how we will work together and introducing the theme
11:00 – 11:15 am      Coffee and washroom break
11:15 am – 12:30 pm   Power-point and presentation of death dying and grieving
12:30 – 1:30 pm   Lunch break
1:30 – 2:30 pm    Individual and small group work
2:30 -3pm          Second session and wrapup

Facilitator:
Rev. Dr. Anne Simmonds, former adjunct faculty at Emmanuel College, has taught courses in Death Dying and Grieving, and Prayer, in Emmanuel College’s M.Div., Continuing Education, and Parish Nursing Programmes. She is an ordained United Church Minister, spiritual director, workshop leader. She is a gifted speaker and facilitator who draws on her extensive experience in teaching, congregational ministry, hospital chaplaincy, nursing, and her own grief. (http://www.annesimmonds.ca/)
