Weltgebetstag (World Day of Prayer) 2025 Cook Islands – German service March 7 at Martin Luther Church (Toronto)
Last updated on January 18th, 2025
We invite all German speaking congregations in Toronto on March 7, 2025 (Friday) at 11:00 a.m. to a German language service at the Martin Luther Church, 2379 Lake Shore Blvd West, Toronto (Etobicoke), ON M8V 1B7 Tel.: (416) 251-8293). There will be a reception afterwards.
World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome everyone to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. Every year, a different country prepares the service materials. The World Day of Prayer is generally celebrated on the first Friday of March: March 7th in 2025.
This year’s theme is “I made you wonderful” based on Psalm 139:14 (1-18). Join us to learn about the Cook Islands, their culture, and history; hear the artwork by Tarani and Tevairangi Napa explained; and read the service booklet written by the women from the Cook Islands.
We, at Martin Luther Church (Toronto), welcome all German-speakers from all churches in the GTA to attend the ecumenical service in German, read a part in the service sheet, help with refreshments, and/or set up/take down, for this friendly gathering.
Please share the invitation —and a special request for those interested in helping— to attend our in-person planning meeting at Martin Luther Church on Friday January 31, 2025 at 11 am.
You may reach out to Marlena Muller in the church office office@martinluther.ca, and/or Vicar Alice Rothgordt, vicarrothgordt@martinluther.ca, to sign up and/or if you have any questions.
Please let us know if you are available to help with hospitality (i.e. bringing dessert, salad, fruit trays, etc or supplies [i.e. coffee, tea, milk, cream, etc.]) and/or can help with set up, serving and clean-up.
