Music makes everything better: Gospel Choir Workshop inspires
Last updated on December 12th, 2015
“Pp tt kk” – say the combination of these letters three times in a row. Now your facial- and mouth muscles are relaxed and you can instantly sing a joyous song. This is what the nearly 60 participants of the Gospel Choir Workshop on September 12th, 2015 experienced, under the direction of the dynamic and inspiring Ulrike Bourehil of the Unity Gospel Choir from Bockenem, Germany. Niko Schlenker, pianist and successful German gospel composer, helped singers with his humour and fantastic piano playing to stay in tune. We thank all participants from Germany and Canada for the voices, the mood and the enthusiasm in the workshop and in service the next day.
As a follow-up to the hugely successful Gospel Choir Workshop held at Martin Luther Church on Saturday September 12th the CONGREGATIONAL CHOIR is launching a series of “workshops” ( rehearsals) of its own! – with our very own organist and choir director Linda Marcinkus – to carry forward the enthusiasm and inspiration experienced by all who participated.
We invite you to embrace the 60th anniversary of the Martin Luther Congregation as an opportunity for new singers to join the choir for celebrations on the 1st and 2nd Sundays of Advent.
The choir is planning to sing on these two dates:
Sunday, November 29, 2015 (1 Advent – Christmas Bazaar)
Sunday, December 6, 2015 (60th Anniversary service with Bishop Michael Pryse and Holy Communion)
• An opportunity to engage personally in the 60th anniversary celebration by performing songs in contemporary and traditional style sung in English and German
• A conscious effort of time to share the gift of music
• Strengthening and renewing the music tradition at Martin Luther Church
• An advent season of joyful renewal in heart and spirit
Your response to this invitation would make a tremendous contribution to enjoyment of the Advent season.
Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, October 6th from 6pm – 7:30pm. Attend each following Tuesdays as you are able. Come, rouse your spirit and be part of this momentous event!
