Thanks and Farewell, Intern Nefeli

Last updated on November 4th, 2022

Text adapted from the Godspeed for our intern Nefeli Xiggos during the worship service on June 26, 2022:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

These words were used as passage of scripture at the May 2022 Dinner Church by the Lake and we think they describe the way we got to know Nefeli during her time with us from May to June 2022. From the moment she set foot in this church it was like that: “Here I am. What can I do?” She was ready not only to watch but to engage in everything that is going on here. Ever since her start with Confirmation immersion, she tackled all kinds of tasks and challenges: Be it her first funeral, battling our technical problems in the office, meeting with our seniors or exploring Indigenous culture and history in different ways and learning about our role as churches in the process of reconciliation. She also shared her testimony of faith in radio devotions and services she planned and lead with great success.

We appreciated her positive attitude, honesty and readiness to help with expertise wherever it is needed, as well as her humour and flexibility in working with us together as a team. We really hope that this experience will give her confidence and joy to pursue the goal of becoming a pastor herself one day.
