Welcome Niki and Rachel to our team this summer
Last updated on August 5th, 2022
Our summer community workers, Niki Shiari and Rachel Gaynor, have been leading Bowls and Blessings food ministry and working with teams including the church office, tech, Dinner Church and Bees for Peace. They are also helping to launch our Little Library. We are grateful that we can again hire youth in the community thanks to the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Dear Martin Luther Church,
My name is Niki. I started my summer job at Martin Luther Church in June. I’m glad to be part of community development this summer. I will assist the Tech and Web Teams and also I’ll take care of Bowls and Blessings.
I’m from Iran and I moved to Canada in October 2019 . I have a Bachelor Degree in Project Management Engineering in Iran. Currently I’m working as a swimming instructor and looking forward to attending college in September to continue in the Project Management field.
It’s been a pleasure working in Martin Luther Church and with the lovely congregation.
I’m looking forward to meeting you all .
Thank you
Niki
Hello,
I am Rachel. I’m going to be serving with Martin Luther Church over the summer with the Canada Summer Job program. I am a third-year student studying English at the University of Guelph. But I am here in the city for the summer! I grew up in South Etobicoke, and am excited to finally get involved with the rich network of community outreach this church is a part of! I will mainly focus on our food ministry including the community garden, food pantry, and Bowls & Blessing this summer. I’m hoping to connect the church more with the South Etobicoke food network to add to all of those endeavours! I love to rollerblade and read all types of books in my spare time. So if you enjoy either of those things and see me around the church during the summer, feel free to say hi and I’d love to chat!
