Background
Come and experience a German Good Friday service with Holy Communion on Friday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. The church choir sings:
“Jesus, think of me when you go to your father.” -Jacques Berthier – Lent Taizé 2022 ending with “Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.” -Victor C Johnson. (Translation: Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Grant us peace.)
“Three crosses stand on Golgotha” –
1. They represent the suffering of this earth. And in the middle hangs Jesus Christ, who grants us salvation and peace.
2. Sin set them up, but God, who is loving, has now settled our guilt.
3. You now give us hope again. The path to the cross is the path into the light. The sky is wide open to us. Chorus: Jesus, Savior, Son of God. Love makes the cross your throne. Give us grace, give us grace. Kyrie eleison. Christe Eleison. Lord, have mercy. – Music: Klaus Heizmann, lyrics: Johannes Jourdan
Stop and listen to Pastor Annika Klappert’s Passion sermon and lose yourself in the music of grace in this Good Friday service.
Mar 29, 2024 Good Friday
10:30 am English Service at Mimico Baptist Church, 80 Hillside Ave, to gather with our ecumenical partner churches on the Lakeshore: Christ Church St. James Anglican Church, Mimico Presbyterian Church, Wesley Mimico United Church and the host Mimico Baptist Church
This service will bring together a number of Good Friday traditions. Our journey will follow the text of the passion narrative from the Gospel According to John and will take us to seven stations. As each station comes to us, we will have a reading of the text, a visual image, a reflection and an extinguishing of a candle followed by a prayer. You are invited to enter into the experience of Christ and to receive the significance. – Pastor Jim Sanderson, Mimico Baptist Church, https://mimicobaptist.ca/good-friday-2024/
