Mother’s Day Bake Sale! Sunday May 12, 2024

Last updated on July 7th, 2024

UPDATE Our second annual Mother’s Day Bake Sale was a resounding success. We sold out within 30 minutes! A big thank you to all the bakers who made something for the sale, as well as our shoppers and supporters. There were many different items to choose from. This was our first fundraiser this year. The total amount raised was $325! What a wonderful contribution to our organ repair fund. Special thanks to Jocelyn Sommerfeld for coordinating this great fundraiser!

We are so grateful for your donations…. and here are several reasons why:

Maintaining the Church: Contributions help maintain our church building, ensuring it remains a safe, welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and community gatherings. This includes everything from utilities and repairs to keeping the grounds well-maintained. We also maintain the parsonage and the adjoining duplex building which houses our custodian and Martin Luther Child Care programs.

Enhancing Worship Services: Donations help us enhance our worship services through music, technology, and other resources that enrich the spiritual experience. This includes funding for organ maintenance and repairs, sound systems, and educational materials that deepen our faith journey.

Supporting Ministers and Staff: Your financial support ensures that our pastor (Pastor Annika Klappert) and our administrative assistant (Marlena Muller) can continue their vital work, providing spiritual guidance, pastoral care, and administrative support that keeps our church running smoothly.

• Programs: Your donations fund educational programs for all ages to help us grow in our faith and understanding of the world around us.

In essence, your donations are the lifeblood of our church’s mission, enabling us to serve, support, and uplift our congregation and the surrounding community. So, we just want you to know how thankful we are for your generosity, which helps us make a meaningful difference in the lives of so many.

If you have any questions or need help making a donation, please email Kai Herrmann at [email protected]

Our Martin Luther Church will once again be having a cash-only Mother’s Day Bake Sale on Sunday, May 12, 2024 – after the 11:00 am Bilingual Worship Service – to celebrate all the mothers (and grandmothers) in our lives.

This year we’re opening it up to all kinds of goodies! Not just baked goods, for example canned goods. Whether it’s cookies and squares, jams and jellies, or granola bars and protein bites, the only requirements are that donations are homemade, shelf-stable, and pre-packaged.

Funds raised will go towards repairs for our church organ, so our organist Linda Marcinkus can continue playing beautiful music!

The goal is for all goods to be packed in portions worth $5 each (e.g., 4 or 5 cookies, 2 squares or muffins, 1 slice of pie or cake, 1 jam jar…). Whether you include 1 flavour or multiple flavours in each package is up to you, just be sure to label each one accordingly (and note any common allergies like nuts or dairy). Also feel free to include your name on the label, so everyone knows it was you who made that awesome brownie, cookie, etc.!

If you want to contribute and help make Mother’s Day extra special, and/or if you have any questions, please contact [email protected] by May 6, 2024!

All donated goods can be dropped off at church on the morning of May 12, before the 11:00 am service. If you won’t be at church on Mother’s Day but would still like to contribute something, we can arrange a drop-off at church beforehand – just let us know!

Thank you so much, and feel free to share this request with any other bakers you think might want to contribute!
