December 1, 2024 – ADVENT 1 & 69th Anniversary of Martin Luther Church Toronto – 11:00 am Bilingual German-English Service with Holy Communion, and Church Choir (Pastor Nkanyiso Kingdom). Altar Art by Michelle Reid will be revealed at the beginning of the service. Followed by Christmas Bazaar 12 noon to 2:00 pm

Service starting with Altar Art by Michelle Reid being revealed.

In addition to the Advent wreath, there will be something new above the altar to celebrate the 69th anniversary of our church on the first Sunday of Advent. On Tuesday November 26, 2024 artist Michelle Reid delivered three large canvases from her studio in Kingston, Ontario. This altar art was commissioned for our Martin Luther Church. Come see it for the first time this Sunday. Many thanks to our altar art committee, especially Leanne Grammenz for installing the pieces with her husband Stefan. This project was made possible by a generous donation by the late Reiner Mauke in 2018 in memory of his dear wife Christine.

UPDATE November 29, 2024: One more invitation for everyone to join us for this year’s Christmas Bazaar on Sunday December 1, 2024 from 12-2 pm at Martin Luther Church!

So many donations are coming in! We have jam, knitted socks & hats, goats milk soap, jewellery, ornaments, artwork, chocolates, baked goods, wood coasters, and more! Scroll through this post for a few more sneak peeks.
You’ll also be able to satisfy your hunger with sausage on a bun (from Brandt Meats!) or hot soup and bread, rinse it all down with a steaming mug of traditional German Gluhwein (non-alcoholic), while shopping everyone’s creative offerings for unique Christmas gifts.

*Note this year we do not have debit or credit/tap available, so please bring cash! (Though e-transfer may be available for larger purchases.) Proceeds will help to offset costs to fix our church basement flood damage.
Spread the word to any and all of your friends/family and ask them for their support. The more the merrier!

Original Posting October 2024: We invite you to join us for this year’s Christmas Bazaar as Crafters, Bakers and Makers!
We are looking for a wide variety of handmade and homemade items, here are some examples:
-handmade crafts (examples may include artistic Christmas decorations, keychains, decor)
-jewellery
-artisanal soaps, lotions, creams
-hand knit goods (mittens, hats, scarves, socks, etc.)
-wood products (such as carved items, planter boxes, wood coasters, etc.)
-tasty baked treats (tarts, pies, cakes, cookies, gingerbread etc.) *Very popular: any specialty GERMAN traditional Christmas baking!
-handmade chocolates
-homemade preserves (jams, jellies, pickles, sauces, etc.)
-artwork (originals in any medium, including prints and photographs)
-food offering that can be served on the day of the event to attendees (in the past we have had hot soup and a bun, bagels, waffles, sausage on a bun, cold and hot beverages etc.) These items are terrific for raising funds, so please consider volunteering for this area if you are not crafty!

Perhaps you have a creative talent not mentioned above, and would like to contribute? We want to hear from you!
Kindly send an email to [email protected] AS SOON AS POSSIBLE or NO LATER THAN THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 17, 2024 with: Your full name, phone number, your contribution description, the suggested price for your item and the quantity you can offer. *It would be great to have a photo of your item to help us put together some advertising to get everyone excited for the Bazaar this year.

Please feel free to forward this invite to any and all of your friends/family and ask them for their support. The more the merrier!

Can you help with Hospitality at the Bazaar? Volunteers needed on the day of the event for setup, sales and cleanup too!
