God answers prayers! Our Virtual Prayer Circle
Last updated on March 7th, 2021
When the pandemic struck in March 2020, many of us started to feel overwhelmed and helpless. We were told to stay at home, which feels weird when the world is in turmoil. However, God never leaves us, and we can find him at home as well as in church. Every second Wednesday at 6:30 pm, we come together online to pray for the sick, the frontline workers, the unemployed and the desperate. Every week, we see how God works in our lives.
Prayers are a crucial part of crisis support. Praying together strengthens our sense of belonging and reminds us that we are not alone in this. Let’s come together to give thanks and praise our Lord in Zoom!
We are glad about everyone who joins our prayer circle. Although we mostly pray in English, everybody is welcome to use the language closest to his/her heart. Get in touch at prayers@martinluther.ca to receive a Zoom invitation or to let us know your prayer request.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIRV) -16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Give thanks no matter what happens. God wants you to thank him because you believe in Christ Jesus.
We’ve seen answers to our prayers so beautiful that we want to share two of them with you today:
1. We prayed for the father of a friend who had received a new organ before the COVID-19 outbreak. His body was rejecting the organ, and weeks later, he was still suffering from internal bleeding. When he needed emergency surgery due to brain bleeding, the doctors urged the family to see their father that very day. We prayed for the father and the doctors for several weeks. The father survived the surgery and got better. Recently, we received news that he was back exercising. His daughter said he barely remembers the past months, but we know that God was with her father every hour. Thanks be to God!
2. We received a prayer request from a church member who was facing challenges with her housing situation. She was very concerned about finding an affordable place to live amidst the pandemic. We prayed for her, and one week later, we received the great news that the challenges had been resolved and that she would be able to stay in her apartment. Praise the Lord!
Nothing is to small for our Lord to take care of. We’ve prayed for everything that members of our congregation and passers-by have brought to our attention, and we will continue to do so. Every name on our prayer wall has been trusted into God’s loving hands.
1 Peter 5:7 (NIRV) – 7 Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you.
God bless you!
