Martin Luther Church Toronto Renovation Project
Last updated on December 1st, 2022
UPDATE : On November 13, 2022 a town hall was held to discuss and vote on a proposal by the Building Project Committee regarding how to proceed with the building renovation project. The committee presented its progress thus far and proposed that, in light of budget constraints, the available funds would be used to complete a revised scope: to renovate the back meeting room of the church into an accessible daycare room (wheelchair ramp, washroom, kitchenette), and to make the foyer space (kitchenette) more usable for meetings, mission, and potential renters. After the presentation the congregation voted on the following question:
“Are you in favour of proceeding to use the 630,000 in the Building Project Fund along with the 70,000 Child Care Accessibility Grant to enter into the construction documentation and construction phases of the building project with the proposed scope goals, understanding that modifications may be made to the scope based on shifting construction costs?”
A quorum was in attendance and the results of the vote were 36 for, 10 against, and 7 abstain. Therefore, the revised scope of the Building Project will proceed into construction documentation, permitting, tender, and construction and use the available funds.
Any further input or questions are appreciated. An information booth will be set up at the Advent Sunday December 4, 2022 Christmas Bazaar, or the email Sonja Schweiger, Project Manager at project@martinluther.ca , an open line of communication.
