Dear members and friends of the Martin Luther Church,
We are grateful for all your donations in time and money over the past year. This made the work of the Martin Luther Church possible, for us to be the Lutherans by the Lake, who celebrate faith, serve and inspire people.
While planning the end of your year 2022, we ask you to give generously. Martin Luther Church, like all Canadian churches, is completely dependent on donations, grants and volunteers. Contrary to the German model, it receives no funding from tax dollars. As a registered charity, we will be providing you with a contribution receipt at the beginning of next year. Your receipt can then be submitted with your annual tax return to receive a tax credit of up to 53 percent of your donation! Plus, you also save on capital gains tax when you donate securities directly. This ensures more dollars are going to helping others because you will be able to give more to your favourite charity. And when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, please think of where you would like to help further the work of your Martin Luther Church. Where do you fit in with your gifts and talents? Are you a singer? Do you like visiting people? How about working with children, youth and families? Do you like leadership or would like to learn to become a leader? The church council would be the place for you.
If you are uncertain where you might fit in, set some time aside to speak to Pastor Annika, Marlena in the office, your church council members or any group leader.
