ASCENSION OF OUR LORD
Ascension Day, 40 days after Easter – Thursday, the 21st of May this year – marks the event described by Luke when the post-resurrection Jesus ascended. First Lutheran Church will hold two online events on Ascension Day: a German-language gathering at 11 AM and Evening Prayer in English at 5:30 PM. Both events will be on ZOOM.
The German service at 11 AM will be an informal time to which all the German language Lutheran congregations in the GTA and the German Seniors’ Club (“Seniorenverein”) will be invited. Pastor Katharina Moeller and Pastor Ralph Carl Wushke will share in the leadership and there will be lots of time for informal visiting.
The Evening Prayer at 5:30 PM will be promoted to our sister downtown congregations and feature some beautiful arrangements of the canticles associated with Ascension, including the Magnificat and the Nunc Dimittis as well as Ascension day hymns.
